Mock crash provides real life lessons for students at Rockbridge County High SchoolPolice, ambulances and a medi-vac helicopter were at an area high school Tuesday afternoon, all to teach students a lesson. Students at Rockbridge County High School, along with law enforcement and rescue crews, staged a mock-crash. The all-too real message, driving while impaired or distracted can have deadly consequences. "Statistically, we're heading into the most dangerous time for teen drivers, that would be during the prom, graduation and summer driving," said Capt. Chris Blalock, with the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Department. "We've had, I think, more than our fair share of tragic automobile accidents over the year, and the ripples really reach out to every person in the school and every part of the community," said Jennifer Weaver, principal of RCHS. Weaver says one person's impact and role in the community isn't fully realized until it's too late.
